  • Assist you to set up live bank feeds directly to the accounting software,
  • Process your transaction details from bank feeds,

  • Record your marketing and communication preferences,
  • We may use your personal information to improve our products and services and to better understand your needs,
  • Verify your identify,
  • Carry out our marketing and training,
  • Comply with laws and regulations in applicable jurisdictions,
  • Fulfil any legal and regulatory obligations,

My Accounting Partner uses a variety of cloud based software and technology solutions to run its practice. These cloud based software providers reserve the right to access, aggregate and use non-personally identifiable data that has been collected from you and that is stored in the software.

This data will in no way identify you or any other individual. Aggregated data is effectively anonymous.

By providing your personal information and the personal information of others, in respect of whom you are authorised to do so, you consent, whether express or implied, to the various software providers which are used by us and to My Accounting Partner, accessing and aggregating non-personally identifiable data.

The purpose of this may include, but is not limited to:

  • Enabling the software providers to better understand how their customers are using their services,
  • To provide their / our customers with further information regarding the uses and benefits or their / our Service,
  • To improve their / our Service,
  • To provide useful tools, information or resources to their / our customers,
  • To track statistical trends.

The various software solutions that we use in our practice and in which we may include your personal information may include, but are not limited to:

  • MYOB
  • Document storage such as Binder, Google Drive or Business Dropbox
  • Cloud storage for encrypted backups

The data is stored in a variety of locations and is often pre-determined by the software provider. These hosting servers include locations within and outside of Australia.

The locations may include, but are not limited to, the locations identified in the following software providers’ applicable privacy policies:

We may use document storage providers.

The various storage providers have servers based within and outside of Australia.

6.4 General cloud storage

The general cloud storage facility we currently use for our encrypted backups is based within Australia. The facility provided is merely secure storage, neither the host nor the provider are authorised to access any of the information for any purpose other than to provide their cloud storage service.

This facility offers the following features:

Fully audited, highly secure datacentres – minimized security risks on datacentre usage, datacentre certifications: ISO 9001-14001-27001-50001, OHSAS 18801, PCI DSS, chapter 9 compliant SSAE16 SOC1

6.5 Consent

By using our Website and our Service, you consent to your personal information being stored on the relevant servers, which may be located and hosted within or outside of Australia.

You consent to your information being transmitted across the internet in order to be transferred to these servers.

Your personal information remains in the effective control of the relevant software provider.

The role of the server provider or host is to provide the hosting or storage service only.

The software providers or storage providers take steps to ensure the host does not have access to your personal information.

If you do not want your personal information to be transferred via the internet to a server located outside of Australia, you must ensure you do not provide us with any of your personal information or use our Services.

7. Measures to protect personal information

Each software or cloud storage provider that we use has reasonable measures in place to ensure the protection of personal information against unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.

You can read more regarding this on each of the relevant software providers’ privacy policies, as indicated in point 6 above.

My Accounting Partner is committed to ensuring that the personal information you provide to us is kept secure by using a variety of security measures. We take reasonable steps to ensure the safeguarding of any personal information that is within our control, this includes physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure information and to protect it from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification, deletion or disclosure.

It is important to note that the internet itself is not a safe environment. Therefore, neither My Accounting Partner nor any of our service providers can provide absolute assurance that your personal information will be secure at all times.

The transmission and exchange of information is carried out entirely at your own risk.

If you choose to transmit your personal information to us or receive information from us over the internet, you do so entirely at your own risk and it is your responsibility to ensure that you only ever provide personal information to My Accounting Partner via a secure channel or within a secure environment.

Where we provide you with a username and login password in order to provide us with information online or to give effect to digital signing, it is your responsibility to ensure the login details are kept safe, secure and are never shared with other users.

In the unlikely event that a security breach occurs, we will notify you as soon as reasonably possible, either upon discovering or being made aware of a security breach in respect of your personal information. Such a breach may include an instance where your personal information is accessed, used, modified, copied, disclosed, lost, stolen or disposed of by an unauthorised person or in an unauthorised manner.

We may disclose your personal information to any of our employees, officers, insurers, professional advisers, agents, suppliers, subcontractors or outsourcing functions / service providers insofar as is reasonably necessary for the purposes set out in this Policy.

As indicated in the point 6 and 7, your personal information will be transmitted over the internet to our software and storage providers hosting facilities which may be located within or outside of Australia.

We may use your personal information to protect the copyright, trademarks, legal rights, property or safety of My Accounting Partner, our Website, our customers, our suppliers or other third parties.

Should a change of control or ownership occur within our business, through a sale or transfer of business entity or assets, we reserve the right to transfer, to the extent permissible by law, our user databases, together with any personal information and non-personal information contained therein. This includes disclosure to a potential buyer under a confidentiality agreement. This disclosure would only occur in good faith and where necessary by any of the above circumstances.

In all other instances, we will not disclose your information to a third party without your express consent.

As noted in points 6 & 7 above, cloud storage providers / hosting facilities and third party suppliers / providers are not granted any control over the personal information and are not authorised to access or use the personal information, except for the express purpose of the service they provide.

This ensures we meet the requirement under the Australian privacy legislation, as we do not “disclose” your personal information to third parties located overseas.

By providing us with personal information, you consent to the terms of this Policy and the types of disclosures included therein.

If you do not wish for your personal information to be handled in accordance with this Policy, it is your responsibility to ensure you do not disclose or provide your personal information to us.

9. Access to your personal information

You may request details of the personal information that we hold about you in accordance with the provisions of the Privacy Act.

10. Credit card details

If the facility is offered and you choose to pay by credit card, we will not store your credit card details. Where this facility is used, an encrypted and secure provider will be used.

11. Email communications

If you do not wish to receive any communications via email, for either all communications or a specific sub-set, you must notify us in writing of your selection, requirements and preferred form of contact or correspondence at info@myaccountingpartner.com.au.

Alternatively, where email newsletters include an opt-out button, you can select this to indicate your preference regarding the email newsletter.

12. Third party applications

You are entirely responsible for any transfer of data you may choose to make between yourself, ourselves and another third party, whether that be a software application, person or other entity.
